Cycle Count

Cycle Count: A method of auditing inventory by counting a subset of items on a rotating schedule.

How cycle counting works

A team counts a small set of items each day or week, compares results to system quantities, and corrects differences immediately.

Why cycle counts beat annual counts

Annual counts are disruptive and find errors late. Cycle counts spread the work out and make inventory accuracy part of normal operations.

What to count first

Start with high-value, fast-moving, and frequently wrong items. These items create the most operational risk when counts are inaccurate.
