How WCWL Communications tracks router serial numbers with StockZip

WCWL Communications, a nationwide fiber installer, uses StockZip to track router serial numbers for installation and warranty claims.

Very user friendly. Easy to stock in and out.

About WCWL Communications

WCWL Communications is a nationwide fiber installer for telco providers. Its crews install fiber and customer-premises equipment — including routers — for subscribers across the country.

The challenge: routers by serial number

Every router that leaves the store is tied to a specific customer installation, and its serial number matters again later — when a unit fails and a warranty claim needs the exact device that was installed. At national-installer scale, keeping that link between serial number and customer accurate is hard to do on spreadsheets or paper.

How they use StockZip

The store team checks routers in and out by serial number in StockZip, so each unit is recorded as it moves from the store to an installation. When a customer later raises a warranty claim, the serial-number history shows which router went where.

For store manager Amirul, the deciding factor was simplicity — scanning stock in and out without training or a complex system to manage.
