Built for the way you work

What it handles

Reagents and chemicals

Give each reagent its own item and a folder for the freezer, fridge, or shelf it lives on. Record lot numbers and expiry dates with lot tracking (a Pro feature) so you pull the oldest stock first and catch anything about to expire before it reaches a bench.

Consumables and plasticware

Pipette tips, microcentrifuge tubes, gloves, and plates disappear fastest. Set a minimum on each and scan boxes out as they are opened, so a draining tip drawer surfaces in your low-stock view before it stops a run mid-experiment.

Small equipment and glassware

Track shared pipettes, hot plates, and glassware as items in their own folder. On a paid plan, check-in / check-out shows which bench or person has a shared instrument right now instead of a lab-wide hunt.

Scan → track → reorder

How it flows

01 · Scan it in

Add reagents and consumables by scanning the barcode with your phone, and drop each into a folder by freezer, fridge, or bench. The lab is organized from the first box, no spreadsheet to seed.

02 · Adjust as you use it

As a reagent bottle or a box of tips is used, adjust the count from the phone — add, remove, and log the reason. The stock record and its movement history stay current without a shared clipboard.

03 · Let minimums flag the gap

Set a minimum (par level) on the reagents and consumables you cannot run out of. When stock drops to it, the item surfaces in your low-stock view so nothing quietly hits zero the morning of a big run.

04 · Reorder from real usage

Instead of walking the freezers to guess, work from what is actually low. Your reorder becomes a quick, confident list built from real consumption rather than a memory of last week.

Frequently asked questions

Is StockZip a LIMS?
No. StockZip is inventory management, not a LIMS: it does not manage samples, experiments, chain-of-custody, or regulated results, and it is not built for regulated sample tracking. It tracks the reagents, consumables, glassware, and small equipment your lab keeps on the shelf, and helps you reorder them. If you need sample-level chain-of-custody, run a LIMS alongside StockZip.
Can I track reagent lot numbers and expiry dates?
Yes, with lot tracking, which is a Pro feature. Lot tracking records lot and batch numbers plus expiry dates so you can pull oldest-first and see what is expiring. On the Free plan you can still track each reagent as its own item with a count and a minimum, but not the lot or expiry fields — those come with Pro.
How do I stop running out of pipette tips or tubes?
Set a minimum (par level) on the tips, tubes, and reagents you cannot run out of. When stock falls to that level the item shows up in your low-stock view so you reorder in time. Low-stock alerts are included on every plan, including Free; the Low Stock report and reorder-suggestion tasks are part of the paid plans.
Can the whole lab use it?
The Free plan is single-user. Add your lab members on a paid plan — Starter includes three users — and use role-based, location-scoped access so each person works from their own folders while you keep the full view. Every add, remove, and adjustment is logged with who did it, when, and why.
What does it cost for one lab?
StockZip is free forever for up to 100 items with no credit card, which covers a small lab or a single group. When you outgrow it, Starter runs $14.99/month billed annually for up to 2,000 items and three users, and your signup price is your renewal price. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
