Automated inventory software that scans, alerts, and reorders

Automated inventory software that kills the manual count: scan an item instead of typing it, set a min and max, and get a low-stock alert the moment you dip below it. StockZip flags what needs reordering — you (or a purchase order on Pro) act on it. No demand-forecasting black box, no orders placed behind your back.

Sound familiar?

Where “we’ll update it later” quietly costs you

“Someone re-keys the count every night”

Hand-typing quantities into a spreadsheet is slow and wrong by morning. Scanning captures the change at the shelf, so the count moves itself — no end-of-day data-entry ritual, no transcription errors.

“We only notice a stockout when a customer does”

Nobody can watch every SKU by eye, so the first sign you’re out is a missed sale. A min/max threshold watches each item for you and raises the flag the instant a count crosses the line.

“We over-buy because there’s no trigger”

With no reorder point you guess, double-order, and park cash in dead stock. Set a max per item and StockZip tells you when — and only when — a line actually needs topping up.

The automation loop

Scan. Set thresholds. Get alerted. Act.

Four steps, and StockZip is honest about which it does for you: it automates the capture, the watching and the alert — a human still decides what to buy. Scanning, min/max and low-stock alerts are free; purchase orders and receiving are on Pro.

01 · Scan to capture — no typing

Point your phone camera at a barcode and the count updates from the scan, in or out. Import your starting list from a spreadsheet in one CSV. This is the core automation: it removes manual data entry. (Scanning and CSV import/export are free.)

02 · Set a min and max per item

Give each item the threshold that defines “low” and “full”. It’s the rule the automation runs on — set it once and StockZip watches against it from then on. (Min/max fields are free.)

03 · Let the low-stock alert fire

The moment a count crosses its minimum, StockZip flags the item and builds your reorder list automatically — no one has to be watching the numbers. (Low-stock alerts are free.)

04 · Act on the reorder — you stay in control

Review the flagged list and raise a purchase order, then receive it back against the same item so counts stay accurate. StockZip does not place orders with suppliers on its own — the buy decision is yours. (Purchase orders and receiving are a Pro feature.)

Automation FAQ

Automated inventory software FAQ

Straight answers on what StockZip automates — and what it deliberately leaves to you.

StockZip automates the parts that are slow and error-prone by hand: capturing counts (you scan instead of type), watching every item against its min/max threshold, and firing a low-stock alert when something runs low. A human still decides what to reorder and how much. For the broader concepts, benefits and ROI of inventory automation in general, read our automated inventory management guide.
