Retail inventory management without the ERP

Count, receive and reorder from the phone in your apron pocket. Scan the shelf, tap ±1, and every register, stockroom and second location stays in sync.

Sound familiar?

Retail stock problems, in your words

“The shelf says zero, the system says six”

Counts drift because updates happen at a desk, hours after the sale or the damage. StockZip updates at the shelf, from the scan itself.

“We find out we’re out when a customer asks”

Set a minimum per SKU once. The moment a count crosses it, a reorder task lands with whoever does the buying — before the empty peg hook.

“Every retail system wants to replace my POS”

StockZip runs beside the register you already have. It’s the stock brain — counts, receiving, reorders — not another checkout to migrate to.

The everyday loop

Scan the shelf. Tap ±1. Move stock.

That’s the whole system your floor staff has to learn. Fifteen minutes on a Tuesday morning, not an implementation project.

01 · Scan
Candle — Sea Salt 8oz
UPC 0 36000 29145 2

Point the phone camera at any UPC on the shelf — the item card opens in about 2 seconds. No handheld scanner to buy or charge.

02 · Tap ±1
On shelf
Low stock at 4
3

Step the count, pick a reason — sold, damaged, sample. Who, when and why land in the audit log automatically.

03 · Move
Stockroom−12
Sales floor — Aisle 3+12

Restock the floor with one move — both locations update together, and the second store sees it the moment it syncs.

Delivery day

Receive a delivery in the doorway

Scan cartons against the purchase order as they come off the truck. Shortages surface on the spot — while the driver is still there to sign for them. Weekly cycle counts work the same way: scan a shelf, confirm or correct, done before opening.

Retail FAQ

Asked by store owners

Straight answers — including where StockZip isn’t the right fit.

No — and that’s deliberate. StockZip is the stock system that runs beside whatever register you use. Sales still happen at your POS; counting, receiving, transfers and reordering happen in StockZip. A POS-sync integration is on the roadmap; until then, most stores reconcile with a fast weekly cycle count.
